Joseph Turk, DVM
Dr. Joseph Turk was an "Army brat" who has lived in several countries and in almost a dozen states. He later served in the military himself both at home and overseas. His undergraduate degrees are in Philosophy, Religious Studies, and Economics. Dr. Turk has previously operated a college textbook store and worked on Wall Street.
When his Border collie Boone became sick with an undiagnosed auto-immune disease, the skill and compassion he witnessed at a university veterinary hospital triggered a reassessment of his own career path. He went back to college to study Biology and worked as a veterinary assistant. In 2003 Dr. Turk received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the North Carolina State University. He has practiced at a multi-doctor hospital with locations in both North Carolina and Virginia, and he was previously the owner of a clinic in Charleston, South Carolina.
Dr. Turk lives in St. Joseph with Clyde, a rescued Border collie. He volunteers at the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan, and also works with several other local animal rescue organizations.
Steven Hadaway, DVM

Dr. Steven Hadaway grew up on a farm in northern Illinois. He attended the University of Illinois where he received his Bachelor's of Science degree followed by his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Dr. Hadaway graduated with honors, was inducted into Phi Zeta (a national veterinary honor society) and then completed an Internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City.
He started his career in a busy four veterinarian practice in suburban Detroit and practiced there for six years. In 1976 he and his family moved to St. Joseph where he purchased the single vet Davis Animal Hospital and practiced there until 1989. After remodeling and building on to that building twice in twelve years he decided to relocate the practice to its present location and renamed it the Animal Care Center. In 2000 he sold the practice to an unsuccessful corporation, and he repurchased the practice back in July of 2007.
Dr. Hadaway resides in St. Joseph with his wife Jean and has three grown children and seven grandchildren. He continues to be active in continuing education and various community boards.
